Guia is a small town sited in the most historical and restricted area, in the zone of excellence of Valdobbiadene DOCG. It is a place where winemaking has ancient origins and during the time it drew a unique and cultural landscape, nowadays internationally recognized as Unesco Heritage.
Today, only 9 provinces around Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia can produce Prosecco, but only in the Conegliano – Valdobbiadene hills, few thousands hectares of land, the miracle comes. Here, where Prealpi wind meets the sea creating the right climate, the production of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG is possible.
Our rows are aligned along one of those Rive representing the absolute unicity of our territory. They are all placed in one unique land that counts in total 6 hectares.
The production raised in one only big land, besides giving a more homogeneous taste to the wine, it ensures more cure and control. Monitoring over vineyard cultivation and afterwards, when harvested and pressed, is strictly important. This is possible thanks to the land and the winery proximity. The last phases, in fact, should be the fastest possible from the vineyard to the machineries. Only in this way, you can maintain the correct temperature of the product.
Facing south, with east and west hillsides as well, our land is principally hosted by Glera vines, which mainly represent the basis for Valdobbiadene DOCG. Some other grape species, as Bianchetta, Perera and Verdiso, contribute and enrich the tasting notes of the final product. These different grapevines, traditional local ones, are known for their special perfume and olfactory richness.
Part of our vineyard is also composed by secular samples. Real masterpieces of nature that only few lands in the world can claim and that embellish the final product, enclosing an historical and cultural value.
It is the wine-growing on the Rive, where the slope vineyards are placed and the major working techniques are still nowadays unchanged. It is where machines cannot make it. This is why the harvest is exclusively conducted manually, as all the other operations during the year: from pruning to mulching.
In an era of technological progress, manual work in the vineyard, give you the idea of the strong passion behind this activity. Day by day, the meticulous and thoughtful attention to details, together with fatigue, our companionship under the sun, we love this work. Each activity requires time, sweat of the brow, skilled hands. In this way only, Mother Earth will repay us and our work with her best fruits.
For a reality as our, that follows directly the entire process, from wine-growing to vinification, nature is the main protagonist. It dictates the timing for each activity through its ongoing cycle.
